Verniki (potato and cabbage dumplings)
This week has just been another great week in Ukraine!
I love being back in Pechersky! The people here are amazing and I have loved meeting with all of the members! On Monday we went to the Bartosh's. They are a hilarious older couple who love the missionaries and know us pretty well because they are both ward missionaries. We went to their house for tea and cookies and it turned out to be a Ukrainian PALACE! It was the nicest apartment ever and Brat Bartosh loves to do woodworking and so everything in his house is carved by him pretty much. It was so cool.
On Tuesday we went to Sister Vira Bevz house. She lives in a cello which is like a village on the outskirts of Kiev. It was my first time going to a cello and it was so fun! It was so quiet and peaceful. We spent the afternoon making vareniki (potato and cabbage dumplings) and eating lots and lots of food. We had to speed-eat our dessert and run through the snow to make it back to our train home. it was my first train in Ukraine and it was literally like stepping back into the Soviet Union.
This week I have been thinking a lot about is the example we set as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love this scripture that I read in 1 Timothy 4:12 this week, it says, "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." I love this scripture because we should all be an example of the believers in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. We can become better believers as we come closer to Christ and take upon ourselves His attributes.
I love you all!
