Hey hey ho ho another week here we go!
My apologies for the subject line. I am running out of ideas. But here is the dealio with this week...
Other things that happened this week included sharing recipes with a less active member that we visit every week, Evalina (she is the one who's house is full of spider webs if you remember from my email a few weeks ago). This visit was a little less gross. She suffers from depression and it has been a long road working with her. We have gone from her avoiding us and having to have a stakeout outside her apartment to meet us on the bench outside and now we go every week to read the Book of Mormon with her and offer service. Usually, she is distracted and not interested while we read the Book of Mormon but this week she actually was excited to read and engaged in a conversation about the chapter afterward! We also were able to bond over our love of cooking! She shared some of her favorite recipes for me to try and next week I'm bringing her one of my favorite dishes for her to try. It is amazing the progress we have seen in her! It is just like the scripture, by small and simple things are great things come to pass.
For everyone who is doing President Nelson's Book of Mormon reading challenge right now to finish by the end of the year, I learned some great things from President Kumferman about how to study more effectively Christ's attributes and His Atonement:
- Joseph F. Smith said, "All communication that the Father has with his children comes through Jesus Christ." So if you ever get confused, like I do, about who the heck its talking about in the Book of Mormon, it is usually Christ.
- We cannot fully understand the Atonement of Christ without understanding the Fall of Adam first. It shows WHY we needed His Atonement.
- When trying to identify Christ's attributes, look for the attributes of Heavenly Father too, they are the same.
- I hope that helps one of you out there because it sure helped me!
Love you all!
